READING PROGRAMS
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
This program is designed to encourage a child and their parents/caregivers to read together everyday. Babies through children not yet in Kindergarten may participate.
Parents or caregivers can pick up a 1000 Books Before Kindergarten reading log from the Youth Services Department at the Montgomery Campus or Oswego Campus. Log all the books you read in your paper log. Come to the library to pick up your prize as you reach each reading goal.
Reading Dragon
This engaging reading program encourages children to read regularly by collecting a set of dragon cards each week. Visit Youth Services to get a reading tracker for logging your time reading books. Whenever you fill out a row on your log, you’ll earn a family of mythical creature cards. Each set includes a card showing the egg, baby, teen, and adult of your chosen creature.
The Reading Dragon program runs from September to the end of the school year. Every month, a new dragon card is unveiled. Build a collection of dragon cards by reading throughout the school year.
Reading Boot Camp
Reading Boot Camp is designed to help children practice reading skills, motivate independent reading, and encourage enthusiasm about reading and books. Children in K-5th grade can participate by picking up a log from the Youth Services Department at the Montgomery Campus or the Oswego Campus. Log all your reading in your paper log. Follow the instructions for each challenge.
This program will take you on a reading journey. Start at the level that matches the books you are currently reading and be rewarded with incentives as you complete each challenge.
