With it, you’ll have access to our extensive collection of books, eBooks, audiobooks, video games, movies, music, streaming services, and downloadable content. Additionally, you can explore learning resources and borrow from our Library of Things collection.
When you sign up for a library card, adults, teens, and children automatically gain access to computers, unless you choose to opt out.
- Adults and their minor children who live within the Oswego Public Library District boundaries are eligible for a library card at no charge.
- Parents or guardians must register their minor children and are responsible for items checked out on a minor’s card.
- Identification and proof of residency are required.
- Adults who own property within the Oswego Public Library District city limits receive a library card for no charge.
- Proof of property ownership must be shown.
- Everyone in the family receives a library card.
- Non-resident property owners' cards expire after 1 year.
- Business library cards are available to businesses, governmental bodies, and nonprofit organizations that own or rent property within the Oswego Public Library District. Contact the Circulation Department to see if your business is within the Oswego Public Library District.
- The Business Library Card will be good for one year.
- The applicant, on behalf of the organization, accepts responsibility for any fines, fees, damages, or loss of material which may result from the use of the card.
- Business Library Cards are not eligible for use at other libraries through the Reciprocal Borrowing Program.
- The Business Representative (owner, manager, or other senior administrative officer) can request up to five Business Library Cards by submitting each of the following to the Circulation Desk at either location or emailing the information to the Circulation Manager:
- A written request on the company's letterhead.
- Business Card Application form.
- Documentation showing the organization’s name and address. Acceptable documents include the most recent tax bill, business license, 501 (c) tax exemption, utility bill or lease agreement.
- Adults who live in unincorporated areas within District 308 may purchase a library card.
- The non-resident fee is based on the property’s assessed value and is equal to what a resident would pay.
- Everyone in the family receives a library card.
- Proof of address must be shown when registering.
- Non-resident cards expire after 1 year.
Non-resident cards are available free to:
- Students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade who attend an Oswego Public Library District school and provide documentation that they participate in the Federal Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program at school.
- Veterans and surviving spouses who provide documentation that they are exempt from paying property taxes on their primary residence.
- Illinois driver's license or state ID with current address
- Utility bill (within 60 days)
- Lease
- Bill of Sale/Contract for home
- Automobile registration
