Library Account

  • To be eligible for a library card, you must be a resident of the Oswego Public Library District. Learn more.
  • A parent or guardian may provide identification and proof of residency for individuals under 18.
  • Children not yet in high school must have a parent or guardian present when the card is issued.
  • Visit the Circulation desk, located near the front entrance at either campus.

You will be notified when your holds are ready for pick up via the notification method of your choosing: PHONE, TEXT, or EMAIL.

Log into your library account by clicking on the “My Account” button on our website or through our app using your library card number and PIN #.

You can pay online here, or by using the kiosk at either campus. (Credit cards only. No cash or Apple Pay will be accepted.)

Place a hold from our online catalog, app, over the phone with staff, or in person.

You can check when items are due by visiting your account through our website or app, by asking a staff member, visiting a self-check station and making an inquiry, or checking your printed receipt. Learn more.

Borrowing

Find materials in our collection by searching our online card catalog or asking library staff.

Visit the Circulation Desk with a library card or ID.

Overdue checkouts are automatically renewed. If extra time is still needed, call or visit the Circulation Desk to speak with staff about what options are available.

We have automatic renewals, there is nothing you need to do.

There are book drops located inside both buildings, a drive-up drop at the Montgomery Campus, and a walk-up outdoor drop at the Oswego Campus.

Services

  • Click on the Stream & Download icon on our website to explore our collection of eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music, digital magazines, and more.
  • You will need your Oswego Public Library District card and 4-digit PIN to access and download content from our digital collections. 
  • Oswego Public Library District cardholders can reserve meeting rooms through our website. Learn more.
  • Meeting rooms are for use by non-for-profit organizations, civic groups, and government entities.
  • Study rooms can be reserved through our website if you have a library card, or you can contact the Adult Services Department for help reserving a room. Learn more.
  • Study rooms may be reserved up to 48 hours in advance for Oswego Public Library District cardholders.
  • Study rooms are available for walk-ins (without a library card) on a first-come, first-served basis when open.
  • Click the Research button on our website to access our online databases.
  • Some may only be available to Oswego Public Library District cardholders, and some are available for use only in the library.

Other

  • Donations may be brought to the Circulation Desk at the Montgomery or Oswego Campus during regular library hours. Learn more.
  • We accept gently used fiction books, non-fiction books, DVDs, and CDs for all ages.
  • Visit or call the Children’s Desk at either campus to inquire about the availability of Museum Adventure Passes or go to the link on our website. Learn more.
  • To reserve a pass through the library, you must have an Oswego Public Library District library card.
  • There is a limit of one pass per week per family.
  • Teens in grades 6-12 can volunteer at the library to earn school credits or just to help out. Look for teen volunteer opportunities on our Events Calendar.
  • The library does not currently offer adult volunteer opportunities or adult community service hours.

Teachers can request materials for specific titles, topics, or themes. These materials can be placed on hold for either the Montgomery or Oswego Campus. Simply complete the Teacher Material Request form, or visit or call the Children’s Desk at either campus to make your request.
