Home Delivery Services consist of:
- Long-term Home Delivery- Delivering materials to Oswego Public Library District resident cardholders who cannot make it into the library due to health or mobility reasons related to a condition which is not expected to change. Home delivery can be set up to be a permanent service.
- Temporary Home Delivery- Delivering materials to Oswego Public Library District resident cardholders who cannot make it into the library due to health or mobility reasons related to a temporary condition which will only require home delivery for a shorter amount of time.
Home delivery will be made once a month by library staff members. Books, audiobooks, and DVDs can be delivered and returned. For staff safety, staff members may not enter an individual’s home.
To see if a resident is eligible for the home delivery program, they must submit an application. Once the application is submitted and approved, they will be notified that they are eligible. Home delivery has the following requirements:
- All library materials may be selected for home delivery. Materials check out to the patron are subject to the normal circulation procedures, renewal procedures, lost and damaged costs, and restriction of borrowing privileges.
- Materials will have a checkout period of four weeks.
- Patrons approved for home delivery may designate one individual to check out materials on their behalf. The library card holder is responsible for borrowed materials and any lost or damaged items by designated individuals.
- No more than 10 items will be sent to a patron per delivery. No more than 20 items may be checked out on the card of a home delivery patron at a time.
- Delivery will be made to a patron’s front door. Staff may not enter the patron’s home. Staff may not aid with activities of daily living, provide advice of personal or financial matters. Staff is only there to deliver library materials.
- Library staff will not leave materials on the stoop, porch, or steps. Materials will only be handed off to a person at the approved residence.
- Library home delivery services are weather dependent. Severe storms, snow, or rain may inhibit services at the discretion of the Library Director.
- Home delivery services may be suspended if a patron engages in threatening, harassing, or disruptive behaviors directed at library staff.
If you currently reside in a participating senior facility located in the Oswego Public Library District’s service area, you are automatically eligible for delivery services.
